A quiet beach front resort in the South of Crete offers a wonderful relaxing get away! A home away from home! The resort features quaint rooms with balconies that view the amazing ocean! Also a view of palm trees and beautiful garden area around the pool. The pool is large, perfect for swimming lengths and great to cool off in. There are plenty of lounge chairs to lay poolside and read a good novel too! The hosts Mina and Nikos are very friendly and helpful people who will make sure you have a fabulous time. Mina is the cook who prepares amazing meals, she often made special vegetarian dishes for me which was very kind of her. A 2 minute drive to the quaint town of Myrtos will get you to a grocery store and some great restaurants when you want to dine out! A nice place to hike and walk along the ocean there too! Drive the other direction and you'll find yourself in the town of Ierapetra where you'll find lots of souvenir shops and interesting sites. Sari Kampos Beach Resort should definitely be on your list of places to stay for a few days or longer if you're visiting Crete.
Vacations can include all kinds of fun adventures, kayaking is a big water sport that allows you to see another view of nature and gives you some great exercise at the same time. Over the past few years I've kayaked in Hawaii, Oregon, Kelowna, Vancouver Island and several areas near Vancouver, B.C. There is lake kayaking, river kayaking and kayaking in the ocean. All of them offer a slightly different experience. The ocean can get a little rough at times, especially if a storm sneaks up on you. The waves from other boats can bounce you around a bit too. It's quite amazing to be kayaking out in the big ocean, amazing scenery and sea life. Several times we have encountered sea lions and been able to watch them for awhile as they warmed up on the rocks or on the little islands.
If you'v never kayaked before many places offer kayaking tours, my husband and I did a tour on the Wailua River in Kauai with a group and this was my first time in a kayak. The tours are great as your with a group of people and it can make you feel more comfortable if it's your first time out. You might want to think about trying this fun sport on your next holiday!
One of my favorite places to travel on a family vacation is to Maui, Hawaii! A dream destination for sure. Amazing beaches where you can relax in the sunshine and walk through the soft sand. There are endless outdoor activities to do, something for every age and level. Enjoy swimming in the ocean waves, take a snorkeling trip to Molokini Island to view amazing fish, big turtles and a variety of sea creatures. You may even spot a whale or two. If you're adventurous you may want to take a surfing lesson, this was a highlight for me. The instructor was great and very helpful as this was completely new for me. There are beautiful golf courses and amazing areas to see by car. Immerse yourself in the Hawaiin culture, visit local artisans selling their creations, enjoy amazing cuisine and don't forget the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I definitely recommend a holiday to Maui, Hawaii, be sure to put it on your must see travel list!
Kaua'i considered the Garden Island of Hawaii with it's amazing landscapes and surrounding vast ocean it is something to behold. With the hot sun streaming down warming the soft sand and the water you'll enjoy spending time on the many beaches of Kaua'i. There are many tourist attractions to visit on this island. Watch the the very popular Spouting Horn where ocean water shoots up high into the air sometimes as high as 50 feet. It's the openings between the lava rocks where the water is forced in and creates this amazing site. One can take a kayaking tour down the calm but winding Wailua River. Enjoy snorkeling or try your hand at surfing at one of the beaches. Amazing fish of a wide variety are easy to spot with your snorkel and mask on, you may even be swimming above some giant sea turtles. A wonderful botanical garden offers some great photo ops for nature and plant lovers. If you like to golf there are some beautiful golf courses to enjoy too! Great restaurants and touristy shops to find the perfect souvenir to take home with you. If you haven't been to Kaua'i you'll want to put this beautiful destination on your list!
A beautiful travel destination is the Oregon Garden Resort in Silverton, Oregon. An impressive hotel with a full restaurant, bar and lounge. There are wonderful cottage like rooms each with there own balcony where you can sit and enjoy a good book and a cup of coffee. Has a very private feel to it different than your traditional hotel. A pool and spa tub are among the amenities too!
Beautiful flower beds and garden areas surround the buildings. You'll want to visit the Oregon Garden which is a Botanical Garden filled with a variety of different theme gardens. Each one featuring unique plants, trees and flowers and water fountains. There is a fee to get into the Garden but is well worth the money. Spend time wandering the area and be sure to stop in the Garden Shop for a souvenir of your trip. The gardens are open daily 365 days a year! A recommended place to put on your holiday bucket list if you like to relax and explore nature.
If you're planning a trip to Vancouver, B. C. you'll want to be sure to visit Stanley Park. A 1,001 acre public park surrounded by the beautiful Pacific Ocean. A walking, biking path approximately 10 km from start to finish goes around the perimeter of the park. You'll see bikers, walkers, joggers and even folks on roller blades enjoy some exercise and the great outdoors here. There is a lot of history that is noted at Stanley Park.
A large outdoor pool and splash park will keep the kids happy for hours. Enjoy concessions and a restaurant meal if so desired. Bring your own picnic and find the perfect spot for you and your family to spend the afternoon. There is the aquarium with tons of fish and sea life to watch too! The Clydesdale horses are available for carriage rides around certain areas of the park too! This is a fun way to view the scenery. You'll want to see the different manicured gardens, a variety of flowers and plants blooming depending on the season that you visit. Great for those who love to take nature pictures. Visit the little ponds and you can see swans, ducks and even raccoons will often make an appearance at this park. Lots of great sites and sounds so be sure to include Stanley Park in your visit to Vancouver, B.C.
Travelling to Rome, Italy an amazing historic adventure. Rome is the capital of Italy, the largest and most populated area. Rome itself extends beyond the city limits with a population of 3.8 million people according to Wikipedia! The Vatican City is it's own country but exists in the city boundaries of Rome. A visit to Rome will give you a rich cultural and historic experience. With a history going back more than two thousand years.
Choosing what to see in Rome if you are only visiting for a short period of time is a challenge as there are so many museums, monuments, churches and architectural structures among other great sites to see. Tours of the main attractions are a must as a tour guide will give you a much richer and in depth knowledge of what you're viewing. Here are a few pictures to get you thinking about your trip to this beautiful country.
When travelling on an airplane especially if it is a long flight being comfortable for the duration of the trip can be a challenge. Make it as easy on yourself as you can by bringing items to help you manage the flight. For instance a neck pillow will protect your neck and head from flopping around as you try to get some sleep on the journey. These cervical pillows are formed to fit easily around your neck and give you the protection as well as comfort, they come in several different styles. Some of them are vinyl blow up pillows with a soft cover and others are made of a soft micro fiber fabric. These can store easily in your carry on bag and be in easy reach for you as you need it.
Another great sleep aid is an eye mask to block out the light and any sunshine that is coming in the windows. These are comfortable, light weight and easy to pack with you. Ear plugs or headphones can help cancel out any noise around you. Put on some relaxing music to help you doze off!
Basically Keep Calm and Travel On... you may as well enjoy the journey!

Take only items you know for sure you can't live without, most people end up packing too many clothes and then regret it. Besides you'll want to save room in your bag for souvenirs or a new piece of clothing.
Be sure your passport is up to date and that you have currency for the country your visiting. A debit card and credit card will be important too.
Will you be needing an International Driver's license while away, check on your travel and health insurance too, visit your local travel insurance company for this.
Be prepared for airplane travel . Gravol and stomach remedies you will want in your carry on bag.
Pack your carry on bag correctly to avoid delays while going through airport security checks. Small size containers in ziplock bags will save you a lot of hassles.
